I write because the pen moves. -- Lora Clarke
While researching the Memoir, I accessed The New York Times Newspaper archives to obtain microfilm copies of the articles relevant to my ancestors' immigration. My grandmother had given me portions of the various articles during the early stages of the project but I quickly discovered how helpful and pertinent the entire articles would be. I gleaned a large amount of detail from the newspapers and typed them up for greater clarity and convenience. When this web site happened, I thought it would be awesome to post the articles I used for my book in their entirety for readers to enjoy. Apart from the assistance the news features lent me, I have, and continue to, find them very interesting to read and mull over. To know that columns New York Times reporters filled over nine decades ago are still within our grasp in the twenty-first century intrigues me every time I think about it. I hope you find the same fascination as you read through these articles.
